A range of map products are generated from the different Copernicus Sentinel earth observation data within the Sentinel Alpine Observatory (SAO). We generate consistent multi-variable and multi-temporal data sets to monitor key environmental parameters and processes in mountain areas. The aim is to support research related to key challenges for mountainous regions (e.g. water scarcity or forest damages).
The data sets are grouped in four categories: level 2 satellite data such as pre-processed optical and radar Sentinel data, variables related to water and cryosphere, variables related to vegetation and land use dynamics, and maps related to terrain dynamics.
Most processing steps are supported by our federated and distributed IT infrastructure. The products generated by each method will be freely distributed to the scientific community.
